Owning it…..

TGIF folks!!

Wednesday I cast on for the precious wee knit and I was so excited that I pulled the classic “knitting mistake”, I didn’t read the pattern all the way through.  I skimmed it several times and saw no problems.  The pattern said you start at the cuff of the sleeve and knit to the other sleeve. Again, no problem.  I had my needles, the yarn and off I went yesterday knitting away on the wee ribbing of a sleeve.

So, on Wednesday night at knit night I pulled out my knitting and the pattern and was chatting away and then looked at the pattern and realized I had knit an extra row. No big deal, so I get it back on track and add the 2 additional stitches and look at the pattern again, and again and again.  I then say to my friends, how am I suppose to do garter stitch in the round??  I was met with questioning faces that promptly asked if the pattern said to join in the round.  Well, not exactly. I assumed and you know what the first three letters spell!!  Warning bells were going off in my head and the pattern was now in the hands of my knitting friends and as they read the directions out loud it all started to make sense.  This sweater was NOT KNIT IN THE ROUND.  I have to tell you that I had a really good laugh as did my friends and then there was talk of making the baby a contortionist to fit into my wonky sweater.  More laughter!!  Did I mention that there was a schematic and talk of seaming…….NONE OF WHICH I SAW. Also, the sweater is a wrap sweater.  If ever there was a case of poor pattern reading, man this was it.  So, yes, I am owning that I started knitting a garment without reading the directions, apparently at all.  Shit happens and I’m owning it.

This is what new little lives do to us, we loosing out knitting minds!  I’m back on track and will have some correct photo’s soon.

Thank you all for your kind and supportive words about my recent losses.  They touched my heart.

Hugs,

Michele

A little warmer here…..

Happy TGIF to you all.  I ventured out today because it was sunny and a tad warmer and we needed food and I realized that I was in dire need of buttons.  The temperature actually reached 40 degrees in the sunshine and it felt so good.  As I was driving I was peeling off some of my layers and letting the sun warm me.

While I am writing this my 11 year old son just popped in to ask me to please move my car or he could do it.  Kids…

I am having just an all around great day.  My friend texted me because her daughter is expecting and today they were going to find out the gender.  I happened to be in JoAnne’s getting buttons at the time of the text, so there might be security footage of me doing a happy dance. I’m sure the staff has seen worse.  I am so happy for my friend!!!  Becoming a grandparent has tons of perks and none of the pain.

I’m off to rip out some knitting and then do some housework. The glamorous life continues.  Stay tuned!

Have a wonderful weekend!
