It’s been a year….

photo-3

Wow, I can’t believe that a year has gone by since I left my part-time position at my LYS.  What a difference a year makes!

It was a great year for my business, Yankee Dyer Yarns, as I was able to dedicate more of my time and energy to moving forward.  During this year, I purchased equipment to make the dying process easier on my hands.  My hands patted myself on the back for that one as I almost crippled myself.  I was able to get my yarns in a couple of designers hands.  Rosemary (Romi) Hill will be designing with it this year and Laura Nelkin is using 315 mini skeins of a specially dyed color in her current Magpie Mystery KAL.  It was a huge thrill for me!

Social media plays so much of a role.  I’ve been Tweeting, not twearking!  Our Etsy shop has regular customers and I have quite a few followers on Twitter and I have even met one this fall.

At Maryland Sheep and Wool I got to meet the Queen of Wool, Ms. Clara Parkes.  It was quite by accident, I promise that I wasn’t stalking her.  I was waiting for a booth to open and out she came.  I got to hug her twice and she said she knew me (Twitter), and it was a big thrill.  I also got to meet Jill Draper, of Jill Makes Stuff and she was so lovely.  I have found that most everyone in the wool industry are helpful and just as nice as can be.

I stepped up my knitting this year and challenged myself is new ways!  That’s always fun, especially when you achieve something awesome.

My family and friends continue to love and support me in all the ways that matter.  I am blessed and take nothing for granted.

I am waiting on some news that will take things to the next level.  I can’t talk about it yet, but I will know something on Wednesday.  I’ll keep you posted.

I adore my new sweater!  I just need to get the buttons on and it will be complete!!

I hope you enjoyed my year in review.

See you soon….

Michele

  2. Congratulations on your 1st anniversary. Who knew, as we struggled through the casting on of toe-up socks and our first sweaters with Sandy, that you would grow such wings and fly off in this direction? Very happy for you and love your products.
